Right to Education for children and Awareness against child labour
Many areas of Bihar and Jharkhand are very prone to migration and trafficking of children for work, especially Kaimur and Buxar. Most of these children end up in the cities where they are employed in all kinds of work from construction to hotels to commercial sex work. A large number of them work in the unorganised sector in families especially sari industry, Zari, leather and so on. Sahaj through its volunteers directly speaks to parents and encourages them to send their children to school and not to work.
As part of its awareness campaign these posters were designed by McCan Erickson for Sahaj and were part of its web campaign promoting awareness against child labour last year.

Some Successes
1. The children of Rasulpur karmhari village in Mohaniya block of kaimur district of Bihar have to cross the grand chord railway tracks to go to the middle school after completing class 5 in the village school. Or they have to cross the high speeding Grand Trunk road. there have been a couple of casualities as a result. Therefore a number of children drop out after class 5th. Now with the efforts of the volunteers of the village and the team, the BDO has ordered to upgrade the village primary school till class 8th. Now the children from the village can complete their education in the village itself safely.
2. The primary school in Nai basti, Bhabhua only has a name "New Prathmik vidyalaya, Semariya, Akhalaspur", and 4 teachers - but does not have a building or land. Then the children are forced to study in the footpath. When it rains the teachers also do not come as there's no place. After sustained efforts by the volunteers and the team government has agreed to identify land for the school and construct a building. Land has still not been identified, it is in process.
